A.R. Sampath Raghavan, Senior Trustee was born in 1940 at Chengalpattu, near Chennai, in a family of lawyers. He inculcated the essence of fraternity and love for his fellow citizens from his father who was a freedom fighter. Having lost his father at the age of 10, his future was nurtured by his steadfast mother. With limited resources he mustered confidence and did his schooling in Ramakrishna Mission (1955) through scholarship.

He later in the college, he stood first in B.A from Madras Christian College (1961) and awarded Seshagiri award for proficiency in all subjects. He was offered admission in M. A. Economics by the same college in which also he stood first. He later completed Diploma in statistics and specialised in Agriculture Economics. He held a senior level official position as Assistant General Manager in Food Corporation of India, a Government of India undertaking for over 38 years.

Being a student of Christian and Hindu institutions, he considers Gospel and Gita as two important guiding philosophies that preach love for humanity. He has travelled throughout India in his personal and official capacity which enabled him to know the diverse culture of India. His immaculate character helps him dedicate himself thoroughly for the welfare of the socially and economically backward community. His psychological support as administrative officer of one of the leading educational institutions run for the underprivileged girls in Thanjavur enables many students to shape their future with self confidence and determination.
