Recognizing the unique challenges faced by the fishing community in Rameswaram, especially the widows who have lost their husbands at sea, the Mother Teresa Foundation decided to bring our support directly to them. Instead of asking families to travel to our premises, we set up a two-day counselling camp in Rameswaram. This approach ensured that every deserving child, regardless of their circumstances, could access our scholarship opportunities.
Focus on Single Mothers
The fisherman community in Rameswaram has a significant number of single mothers, each with an average of three children, many of whom are under the age of 12. These families face unimaginable hardships, and our Foundation is dedicated to easing their burden through educational support. Selection of Beneficiaries
Out of the numerous applicants, approximately 100 beneficiaries were interviewed. We selected 78 new students for scholarship. These students were chosen based on their academic potential and economic need, ensuring that our support goes to those who need it most.
