Empowering Widows: Mother Teresa Foundation’s Orientation Program in Rameshwaram

The Mother Teresa Foundation in Thanjavur recently organised an orientation program for widows in Rameshwaram. This event marked the first anniversary of forming the “Widows Welfare and Development” organization; known locally as “Nankooram Kaimpengal Iyyakam” “நங்கூரம் கைம்பெண்கள் இயக்கம்”, which aims to support and empower widows in the fisherman community of The Rameswaram Island. This is done as part of The Foundation’s Community Development Program

The program was a significant initiative to provide much-needed support to widows who often face social and economic challenges. The orientation program included games, prizes, and a feast in honor of the widows.

Counseling sessions were also held at the event, providing an opportunity for the widows to share their experiences and challenges with trained counselors. This initiative is essential in helping widows overcome emotional and psychological challenges and move towards a better life.

The organization aims to provide long-term support to widows in the community. The organization provides counseling, vocational training, and financial assistance to help widows become self-sufficient and improve their overall well-being.

The orientation program for widows in Rameshwaram is just one of the many initiatives undertaken by the Mother Teresa Foundation in Thanjavur. The Foundation has been actively involved in supporting various social causes, including education, healthcare, and community development.

The Foundation’s efforts are a testament to the importance of social responsibility and the role that organizations can play in improving the lives of people in the community. The orientation program for widows in Rameshwaram is a step in the right direction, and we hope that more such initiatives will be undertaken in the future to support vulnerable sections of society.
