Permanent Housing was provided to a poor family of 6

A fully built house was handed over to the beneficiary Stanislaus today 14th September 2022 during a house-warming ceremony conducted there. The District Collector Mr. Dinesh Ponraj Oliver and Dr. AR Savarimuthu, Chairman Mother Teresa Foundation presided over the ceremony. The construction was undertaken under The Community Development Program.

Stanislaus, his wife and 4 adult children were struggling without a place to call their own. They were living in shared accommodation with their relatives in a neighbouring village.

His son had approached the district collector Mr. Dinesh Ponraj Oliver, affectionately called by the local populace as “The People’s Collector” and petitioned him on their plight. The Collector on recognising their situation agreed to help.

They were allotted a house under the Green Initiative of the Tamilnadu Government. Usually this scheme is used to build a house on land that is previously owned by the beneficiary. Seeing that this family did not have any land to their name, a plot was assigned for free and patta was handed over to them under the free housing scheme.

Since the entire budget to construct a house is not provided by the Government Scheme, The Mother Teresa Foundation at the request of the Collector agreed to take up the remaining expenses for the construction. And The Foundation took up the responsibility of constructing the house.
