International Widows Day: Honoring the Strength and Resilience of Single Mothers

International Widows Day is an important occasion to recognize the challenges faced by widowed and single mothers while celebrating their courage, resilience, and unwavering commitment to their families. To mark this meaningful day, Mother Teresa Foundation organized a special program, bringing together hundreds of single mothers for a day of recognition, encouragement, and support.

The event was designed not only to honor their sacrifices but also to inspire confidence, self-reliance, and hope for a brighter future.

Recognizing the Extraordinary Strength of Single Mothers

The program was presided over by Mr. A. Savarimuthu, Chairman of Mother Teresa Foundation, who addressed the gathering and highlighted the Foundation’s commitment to supporting vulnerable women.

In his speech, he emphasized that single mothers are among the strongest members of society, balancing family responsibilities while overcoming emotional, social, and financial challenges. Through inspiring examples and success stories, he encouraged the participants to believe in their abilities and pursue their goals with confidence.

His message reminded every woman present that their strength and determination have the power to transform not only their own lives but also the future of their children.

International Widows Day Scholarship Support for Students

One of the major highlights of the program was the distribution of educational scholarships to deserving students from economically disadvantaged single-mother families.

A total of ₹2,85,000 was distributed to support the education of 40 students who demonstrated academic potential and dedication to their studies. This assistance will help them continue their education without financial barriers and move closer to achieving their dreams.

The Foundation believes that investing in education is one of the most effective ways to empower families and create lasting social change.

Participants enthusiastically took part in games, cultural performances, and talent-based activities. These programs provided an opportunity for women to showcase their abilities, interact with one another, and enjoy moments of happiness and celebration.

The atmosphere was filled with positivity, laughter, and a strong sense of community.

Honoring Every Participant with Appreciation

As part of the International Widows Day observance, prizes were awarded to winners of the competitions and cultural events.

In addition, more than 250 single mothers who attended the program received special gifts as a token of appreciation and recognition. These gestures symbolized society’s gratitude for their resilience, dedication, and sacrifices.

The smiles on their faces reflected the joy and encouragement that such recognition can bring to women who often carry enormous responsibilities.

Continued Commitment to Women’s Empowerment

During the program, the Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to supporting single mothers through livelihood assistance, educational support, skill development programs, entrepreneurship initiatives, and welfare services.

Participants were informed about various opportunities available through the Foundation to improve their social and economic well-being. The Foundation remains dedicated to helping women become self-reliant and achieve financial independence.
