Discovering Vasantha: A Mother’s Strength
In the heart of Thillaivalagam, the team met Vasantha, a determined homemaker already familiar to the Foundation through earlier outreach camps. Her husband, Swamynathan, works as a daily wage laborer, with inconsistent income. As a result, Vasantha shoulders the responsibility of running the household, providing stability for their family of five.
Their children are a reflection of perseverance:
- Indumathi (24): A bright M.A. postgraduate with dreams of cracking the TNPSC exams, despite serious eye issues.
- Kumar (22): A part-time taxi driver with an unstable job.
- Rithikashri (12): Their adopted daughter, still in school, full of dreams yet walking a difficult road.
The financial and emotional weight rests heavily on this family. But they endure — together.
A Special Gift for Rithikashri
Recognizing the challenges faced by Rithikashri in commuting to school, the Foundation took swift action. On her birthday, the team presented her with a bicycle, ensuring she could attend school regularly and safely. This gesture not only addressed a practical need but also symbolized the Foundation’s commitment to supporting the aspirations of young girls in rural areas.
