The Mother Teresa Foundation has always been a beacon of hope for the underprivileged, and its latest initiative has once again proven its unwavering commitment to uplifting lives. In Narangiyanpatti village, Pudukottai district, Mrs. Selvi is a deserted woman facing unimaginable living conditions. Her small, damaged house was falling apart, and without a stable income, she couldn’t afford the necessary renovations.

Mrs. Selvi’s Struggles and Living Conditions:

Mrs. Selvi is a woman who has faced abandonment and hardship for most of her life. She was deserted by her husband just five years after their marriage and has been living alone for more than 30 years since then. With no children to support her and no help from either her husband’s side or her parental family, she has been left entirely on her own.

To sustain herself, Mrs. Selvi works as a daily wage laborer, which means she must go to work every single day to earn enough for her livelihood. Her income is meager and uncertain — whatever little she earns each day is what she uses to meet her basic needs. There is no financial stability or security in her life, and any day she is unable to work directly affects her ability to eat and care for herself.

Despite her advancing age and the physical toll of hard labor, Mrs. Selvi has no choice but to continue working, even when she falls sick. With no family support, she must take care of her health on her own, often without the luxury of proper medical care. The lack of a consistent and sufficient income makes it difficult for her to afford nutritious food, medication, or rest when needed.

Her life is a constant battle for survival, marked by loneliness, financial struggle, and the burden of having no one to rely on.

A Desperate Plea for Help

Living alone in a deteriorating house, Mrs. Selvi’s situation was dire. The house was so ruined that snakes found shelter within its crumbling walls. The unsafe environment and lack of resources made everyday life a struggle. With no children and no proper income, she had nowhere to turn — until she reached out to the Mother Teresa Foundation.

The Foundation’s Compassionate Response

Upon receiving her request, the Foundation’s chairman, Dr. A.R. Sivarimuthu, along with team members, personally visited Mrs. Selvi’s home. What they found was a heartbreaking scene: a house in ruins, a damaged floor, and an atmosphere of fear and insecurity. Moved by her plight, they immediately took action.

The renovation began without delay. The Foundation’s support included:

• A New Roof: Properly tiled to prevent leaks and ensure safety.

• Repaired Flooring: Damaged floors were replaced with durable tiles, transforming the home’s interior.

• Built-in Cupboard: A small but essential addition to enhance storage and organization.

This comprehensive renovation cost was fully covered by the Foundation, ensuring Mrs. Selvi’s home became a safe and comfortable haven.

When the renovation was completed, the newly transformed home was inaugurated by Dr. A.R. Sivarimuthu. The joy and gratitude on Mrs. Selvi’s face were palpable. For her, this was an unimaginable transformation — a new beginning filled with hope and security.
