Mother Teresa Foundation which is carrying out various charitable activities for the underprivileged, observed International Transgender Day. Foundation provided various life support materials to the Transgender, differently abled and vulnerable to the tune of Rs. 2,60,000/- for their sustainable livelihood
Mr. Shan Ramanathan, Hon’ble Mayor, Thanjavur Corporation adorned the occasion as Chief Guest, and wished the Transgender Community to join the mainstream to live with honor and dignity. He also stressed the importance of them joining various professions besides undertaking business ventures on their own. Mrs. Rajeshwari, Thanjavur Social Welfare Officer, presided over the function as well. And wished the Transgender and differently abled, brighter prospects, thereby appreciating the services of the Foundation.
Moreover, on behalf of the Foundation, the Chief Guest distributed cattle, dance materials to 7, rice and other groceries to 10 Transgender as well. And an appointment order was also provided to a Transgender to work in our Foundation.
In addition to this, a wheel chair, 2 hearing aids, a sewing machine, 1 set of prosthetic limbs and 2 tricycles to differently abled were also distributed under Community Development Program. And a bicycle was also offered to a student under Education scheme.
Moreover, in his address, the Chief Guest appreciated the good work being done by the Foundation for the underprivileged communities, and wished them good luck in all future endeavors. This was also the day when the Foundation honored the group leader Transgender Nalini, who has been striving her best to improve the living condition of the Transgender for over ten years.
Our Chairman too in his welcome address motivated the Transgender to overcome their inhibitions and live with honor and dignity. He also assured all our support for their sustainable livelihood, with our trustee H. Govindaraju proposing vote of thanks in the end.
