Mother Teresa Foundation, Thanjavur has been carrying out various charitable activities since 20 years for the cause of the marginalised. Having realised that the vulnerables have been severely subjected to miseries caused during the pandemic extended helping hand to such families by providing need based relief monetarily and in the form of relief materials for their livelihood. It is also engaged in free distribution of lunch to over 600 hungry every day since April 2020.

In the process of identifying such families the Foundation saw the plight of 32 families migrated from Andhra, Karnataka and other districts of Tamil Nadu living in deplorable condition under makeshift temporary shelters covered by tarpaulins and used flex boards. These people who been earning their livelihood  through fortune-telling, selling plastic materials and street dancing etc lost their livelihood due to covid-19.

Due to loss of known source of livelihood they having been looking for possible help, Foundation realising their sufferings to run their day to day life provided  bags containing 10 kgs of Rice, groceries for two months and vegetables as Diwali gift to 32 families in the function on 27th October at Thulakkanpatti village in which Shri. T.K.G. Neelamegam, Thanjavur MLA graced as chief guest and handed over the gift bags to them.

AR. Savarimuthu, chairman and Trustees A.R. Sampath Raghavan, H. Govindaraj and Murali krishnan participated in the function. Shri. Rathish kumar, project director, Mrs. Mercy, Administrative Manager, Shri. Jerome, Logistics Manager, Viji, Rani, Public relation officials and Maheshwaran, Social media       coordinator made arrangements for the function.
